European Commission - NextGenerationEU (NGEU)
NextGenerationEU is a temporary economic recovery package designed to support the member states to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and to build a greener, more digital and more resilient Europe. It is the largest stimulus package ever financed in Europe.
European Peace Facility (EPF) - Financing of CSDP military operations
The new global off-budget instrument finances external action having military or defence implications under the Common Foreign and Security Policy. The EPF is aimed at enhancing the Union's ability to prevent conflicts, build peace and strengthen international security. It replaces and enlarges former financial instruments in this area, namely the Athena-Mechanism and the African Peace Facility.
Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI)
Under the NDICI, the European Union channels the biggest share of external action funds, with a budget of €79.5 billion. It brings together a number of former financing programmes, including the DCI, ENI and IcSP. The NDICI is the EU’s main tool to contribute to eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development, prosperity, peace and stability.
Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA)
The IPA is the means by which the EU has been supporting reforms in the enlargement region with financial and technical assistance since 2007. IPA funds build up the capacities of the beneficiaries throughout the accession process, resulting in progressive, positive developments in the region. For the MFF period 2021-27, the IPA budgetary envelope is €14.162 billion.
